Meet Susie and Shawn
After running a successful landscape company in British Columbia for over a decade, we brought our tools and passion to Alberta a few years ago-and quickly saw a new opportunity. We noticed how many teens in our community needed real work, really skills, and real purpose. So we decided to do something about it.
Dirt Academy is our next chapter: a landscaping company that delivers high-quality work while giving youth hands-on training, mentorship, an a chance to be proud of what they build. We’re picking up where we left off- with a fresh focus on community, growth, and getting things done right.
Meet Dorin- Arborist and Forestry Engineer
Dorin brings decades of experience and a deep knowledge of trees to every job. As a trained forestry engineer and skilled arborist, he’s knows for his high standards, thoughtful approach, and precision work. Whether he’s pruning, assessing tree health, or offering expert advice, Dorin always leaves the site- and the client- better than he found them.
He’s not just great at what he does- he’s a genuinely kind person with a big heart, strong integrity, and a smile that makes you feel like you’re in good hands. Our cients love working with. him, and we do too!
Meet Maddie- Marketing and Media Lead
Maddie has been part of our team from the very beginning, bringing her creativity, energy, and deep understanding of the ladscaping industry to everything she does. A key player in our previous company, Eleven 11, she now heads up the social media and marketing side of the business- sharing our story, connecting with our community, and making sure our work looks as good online as it does on-site. Maddie is not only incredibly talented and organized, she’s also a joy to talk to- bubbly, thoughtful, and full of heart. Now navigating life as a new mom, she brings even more depth , perspective, and multitasking magic to the team.
